January's Newsletter - Ducks, Goats and Tinctures

Happy New Year! Well, we made it officially into another year.  We thank you so much for your support of our Farm and our Mission. 2017 is off to a great start as it is currently raining which is a good thing when you've planted thousands of seeds yesterday along with fingerling potatoes. The snow pea vines were wrapped and tied ... after dark but I got 'er done so to protect their fragile stems from this rain.Everyday we chase baby ducks a million times from the gardens so Ron is working on the fences where these "innocent" babies are getting through. Yesterday was a busy day as always but I managed to squeeze in a few videos to share and linked them below.

Below is our most recent Newsletter:
Snippets, Snapshots and Barnyard Politics from our north Florida farm.

Throughout each year we get many questions asked, one is if we offer goat milk, goat cheeses, etc. I love goats and had a large herd while living in Georgia and also grew up around them, milking each day was one of my chores. Ron and I have tossed around the idea and made plans for pen locations, etc., so we can purchase goats and offer this to our Farm Family members. With skin sensitivities and fragile hair I have always wanted to make healthy personal care products as well and goat milk has a lot of health benefits not to mention the chemicals that are in everything in today's store products. Contact for fresh organic goat milk information, $4 quart, please return jars when finished - labeled as pet food grade only.

Tinctures, Salves, Herb Oils, etc.: Chickweed is our starting point in our new line of tinctures, salves, herb oils, etc. With all the health benefits it has to offer, we can't resist creating these products. Here's just one of many websites that offer a wealth of knowledge about this plant: http://www.nutrition-info.com/herbs/herbs-chickweed.php. We'll let you know when our products are available and we certainly won't stop with just chickweed!

Another episode of Little Eden's Barnyard Politics:
We have 16 new babies!! Tuesday, December 13, 2016 Olive, one of our beautiful Muscovy ducks, after nearly 30 days if sitting, hatched her babies. That's 16 more mouths that will shovel through chips and plants to eat the bugs that harm our crops. Congratulations to Olive!

With frost cloth we have been able to keep some of our warm weather crops still producing which is a blessing. This week more cool weather crops are being planted and transplanted on our weekly succession planting schedule along with squashes, potatoes, tomatoes and peppers in preparation for spring harvests.

Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to do what we love. May you have a blessed and a most wonderful start to this new year ahead.
