2014 Availability List - November 25 Update

       Little Eden Heirloom Farm
~Always Heirloom~Always Organic~

Hi to All!

What do you do when it's raining outside? For us, it's just another day in paradise, albeit another wet one. This week we've planted thousands of seeds and harvested, yep, you guessed it...in the rain. Our wonderful customers want nutritional organic produce and we love growing it for you; we just suit up and get busy...we won't mention the frozen fingers and toes at times or the ice cold rain that sneaks in every now and again. We love what we do....We eat this stuff too, ya know, and to think that there are no genetic modified organisms and that it is grown organically makes it worth it!

Thanksgiving is upon us but of course we don't wait until the fourth Thursday in November to be thankful for our many blessings but it is a time that most of us come together with co-workers, friends or family and enjoy each others cooking and conversations....and if I dare say, eat too much. It's been a long time since I was a young student learning how-come and what-for of the first Thanksgiving feast. With all the sales events coming in well before Thanksgiving these days, I hope we take more than a moment to be thankful.

We look forward to seeing you at the Organic Growers' Market at Lake Ella in Tallahassee tomorrow.

2014 Availability List - November 21 Update

Little Eden Heirloom Farm
~Always Heirloom~Always Organic~

Hi there!

Next week some of us will be visiting family, friends, attending office/school parties and the like. We'll be at the Lake Ella Farmers' Market on Wednesday but remember you are welcome to come to the farm to pick up your organic heirloom vegetables and homemade bakings. Here's what we have for vegetables and tasty bakings this week and I have attached a more detailed list. On the detailed list, you'll find a list of varieties along with their general harvest month for this fall/winter season. We plant every week so each week you'll see additions and updates to the list.

We are thinking of starting a delivery service to the Crawfordville area and to the mid and south Tallahassee areas on Wednesday mornings so let us know if you are interested. This will be an added convenience to you for us to meet you at your place of business or home so let us know your thoughts!

2014 Availability List - November 18 Update

Baby it's cold outside!!

Yesterday we picked all the green beans and lima beans, the yellow, scallop and rampicante squash, cucumbers, sweet peppers and most of the hot peppers.   No matter how small, we picked them all as tonight we'll say good-bye (sniff sniff) to the remaining of our summer/fall growings and pray to make enough money to have a heated greenhouse next year, or as/when the Lord sees fit.  Ron did move some tomato and herb plants into pots to grow inside during the cold as part of the kitchen is always sunny until the sun moves upward again in spring.  Unfortunately we'll have to have to say good-bye to about 30 tomato and cucumber plants, even if they have fruit and flowers on them.  :(  The thing about growing in this part of the country is that some years are colder than others and this year brings old man winter early.

The stone ground whole wheat bread is moist and delicious.  The blackberry banana bread, pie and pumpkin breads are a sell-out nearly every week!

A Veterans Day Tribute

It's Veterans Day today, I hope all of you stopped for a moment to think and ponder on the meaning of this day.  My husband is a Vietnam Vet, for those of us that have never been in a Veteran's shoes (or currently on active duty), can't begin to understand the things they have been through to fight for this country we call the United States of America.  My husband is my hero, all you Veterans that have fought, been maimed, or didn't make it back.... for our country....

I salute you all.
